Northern California fires

October 12, 2017
 /

Firefighters are working tirelessly to control the fires sweeping northern California’s wine country. It’s estimated that the fires have killed 23 people, with nearly 250 still missing and nearly 3,500 structures have been destroyed. Our hearts are with all of those suffering and still battling the blaze. Two of our fellow community foundations in the area have created funds to help those affected:

  • Community Foundation of Sonoma County has launched the Sonoma County Resilience Fund to support the mid- to long-term needs of the community as it recovers from the devastation from the fires currently raging through Sonoma County
  • The Napa Valley Community Disaster Relief Fund, which was established in 2014 immediately following the South Napa earthquake has been reactivated. Those wishing to make donations can contribute via the Community Foundation of Napa Valley’s website, or by clicking the link available on the napavintners.com website. The organization plans to begin distributing funds to those in need in the coming days.

We will add to this list in the coming days. To make a gift, please contact your philanthropic officer.
