Ken Britt retired as the Executive Director of Alston & Bird LLP in August 2009 after serving as the Firm’s top administrator for 30 years.  The law firm has approximately 900 lawyers in nine offices across the country and generates close to $550 million in annual revenue.  As the former Executive Director/Chief Administrative Officer, Britt was responsible for the management of all administrative operations and served at the partnership level reporting to the Managing Partner and Executive Committee.  For 10 consecutive years, Fortune magazine has voted Alston & Bird one of the “100 Best Companies to Work for in America.” 
 
Britt’s involvement in the Atlanta community and beyond is extensive. He is currently Co-Chair of the National Board of the Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights group.  In addition, Ken is on the Board Nominating Committee of ACLU of Georgia, serves as a member of the CHRIS Kids Capital Campaign Committee and also serves on the Board of Directors of his condominium association at Colony Square.
 
His commitment to the community was recognized by AID Atlanta in 2000 with the establishment of the Kenneth F. Britt Honors Service award, which recognizes its most dedicated volunteer each year.  In 1999, the Human Rights Campaign’s Atlanta Steering Committee presented Ken with the Dan Bradley Humanitarian Award.  In 2001, Britt received the Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year award from the Atlanta chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.  
 
Britt has served on the boards of the Midtown Alliance, The Atlanta Opera, CHRIS Kids, Inc., AID Atlanta, Georgia Equality and the City of Atlanta’s Human Relations Commission, among others.  He is also a graduate of Leadership Atlanta.

Last year’s financial contributions were a record $139 million and 2010 was our third highest year in grants made totaling $99 million. This year’s annual report shares the difference these investments have made…the needs met…and the lives changed.
