Isaiah Tidwell, Wachovia Bank (Retired)Isaiah Tidwell retired in March 2005 from Wachovia Bank as Executive Vice President and Director of Wealth Management operations for the state of Georgia. His career with Wachovia spanned 32 years during which he held a variety of leadership positions in business development, loan administration and bank management. Prior to his career with Wachovia, Tidwell worked for Celanese Corporation in various accounting and financial analysis positions.
Tidwell received a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1967 from North Carolina Central University and a master’s degree in business administration with academic distinction from Babcock Graduate School of Management at Wake Forest University in 1980.
Tidwell serves on the boards of Lance Incorporated, Ruddick Corporation and Lincoln National Corporation.
He is involved with several Atlanta community/civic organizations, including serving on the Boards of the Southern Education Foundation, Woodruff Arts Center and Project Grad. He is a member of the Atlanta Rotary Club, Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, 100 Black Men of America and Friendship Baptist Church where he serves on the Board of Trustees. He is a Life Member of North Carolina Central University Alumni Association and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., from which he received the Winston Salem Chapter, Omega Man of the Year Award in 1983.
Tidwell also received the 1980 Boss of the Year award from the Winston-Salem Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association. In 1996, he was inducted into the Charlotte NAACP Hall of Fame and received the 1999 Black Political Caucus Hall of Distinction Award. The Distinguished Alumnus Award was presented to him in 2001 by North Carolina Central University.
Tidwell has served in various board and leadership positions with the Atlanta Area Chapter of Boy Scouts of America, Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, First Baptist Church West (Charlotte, N.C.), Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, Davidson College, Central Piedmont Community College Foundation, Charlotte/Mecklenburg Education Foundation, Foundation for the Carolinas, Charlotte/Mecklenburg Housing Partnership, N.C. Blumenthal Center for the Performing Arts, Mint Museum of Art and the Afro-American Cultural Center.
Tidwell is married to the former Hellena Huntley of Greensboro, N.C. and they have two sons. Tidwell is a native of Charlotte, N. C.
