KIMBERLY AUSTIN serves as the program associate for community initiatives for The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta. In this position Kimberly is responsible for both project coordination and administrative support to multiple community initiatives managed by the Foundation’s Community Partnerships department. Currently, approximately half of Kimberly’s time is focused on the Foundation’s health initiatives including Healthy Belvedere, Homeless Health and the Safety Net Program. Kimberly also supports the new Grants to Green initiative.
Kimberly came to the Foundation in 2007 with previous experience in preventative health, environmental justice, nonprofit development and community organizing as an intern and policy researcher at several nonprofits. Kimberly has worked with Chattanooga CARES, AID Atlanta, Environmental Community Action and Georgia State University’s Institute of Public Health. Her research interests include HIV/AIDS, environmental health and urban health.
Kimberly is a member of the American Public Health Association and volunteers as a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta. Kimberly recently obtained a Masters of Public Health with a concentration in Management and Policy from Georgia State University’s Institute of Public Health in Atlanta, Georgia. She earned her undergraduate degree in Economics and Business at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia.
