KRISTIN DUNSTAN serves as Vice President of Marketing and Communications for The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta overseeing the development of the Marketing and Communications department including a focus on strategic marketing and communications initiatives for key internal and external audiences. Additional areas of responsibility include public relations, media relations and the oversight of ongoing traditional and electronic marketing and communications efforts.
Kristin came to The Community Foundation after serving as the first Director of University Marketing for Western Illinois University. While at Western, Kristin created integrated marketing campaigns for both the Macomb and Moline, IL campuses. Her work contributed to an increase in applications, enrollment, awareness and recognition for the University on both a regional and national level. Further initiatives included launching the University’s first outdoor advertising campaign in Chicago plus a state-wide, multi-media campaign. Additional accomplishments included integrating marketing and communication efforts across the University, a redesign of the university website, the creation of two marketing granting programs, oversight of the trademark and licensing program, as well as work on marketing and communications efforts for the University’s $60 million campaign.
In addition to her experience in higher education, Kristin has an extensive background in nonprofit arts, fundraising, board development and arts administration. She served as managing director for the Atlanta Shakespeare Company from 1996-2005 after meeting the company in London, England, where she was part of the management team for the reconstruction of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre at the International Shakespeare Globe Centre. Additional organizations she has worked for include the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, the Berkshire Theatre Festival and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Starlight Express at the Apollo Victoria Theatre in London.
Kristin is a graduate of the Stanford Executive Program for Non-Profit Leaders at Stanford University's Graduate School of Business. Additional activities include National Presenter and Chair of the National Arts Marketing Project for Atlanta’s Arts & Business Council; Board member of Western Illinois University’s Performing Arts Society, the University’s Council of Administrative Personal, as well as Atlanta Shakespeare Company. She has also been recognized as an “Atlanta Woman to Watch.” Kristin earned her M.A. and B.A. from the University of Illinois, graduating Phi Beta Kappa.
