Current Initiatives

The Community Foundation is currently involved in a wide range of Community Initiatives. These are our opportunities to bring individuals and groups with various areas of expertise and diverse points-of view together around a common issue and create collaborative approaches or solutions.

Atlanta AIDS Fund

The Atlanta AIDS Fund supports regional Atlanta’s HIV/AIDS advocacy, prevention education and service efforts through funding and leadership.

Atlanta AIDS Partnership

Atlanta AIDS Partnership focuses the region’s leadership’s attention and resources, human and financial, on HIV/AIDS. With our community partners, AAP serves as the planning and coordination body for Metropolitan Atlanta.

Atlanta Place-Based Funders

Convened by The Community Foundation, the Atlanta Place-Based Funders is a learning and action group of funders committed to investing in specific communities in Atlanta.

Champions for Children

Champions for Children with Exceptional Needs provides support services for Georgia’s medically fragile and special needs children and their families.

Grants to Green

Grants to Green provides environmentally focused knowledge and funding to strengthen nonprofits. Through this initiative, metro Atlanta nonprofits have the opportunity to renovate or build healthier work places that are energy and water efficient and environmentally efficient.

Healthy Belvedere

Healthy Belvedere promotes healthy eating and active living through community-based and community driven strategies.

Health Safety Net

Health Safety Net aims to develop the capacity of an array of community-based service providers who provide free and affordable health services to under- and un-insured individuals.

Local Funds

Local Funds respond to the charitable needs of local communities. Each local fund is run by an advisory board that lives and works in that area and is committed to developing local philanthropy and responding to the needs of the community.

Marshall Memorial Fellowship

The Marshall Memorial Fellowship offers emerging leaders ages 28-40, the opportunity to explore societies, institutions and people on the other side of the Atlantic.

Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund

The Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund focuses on the 250+ small and medium-sized arts groups in the Atlanta area with operating budgets of less than $2 million.

Metropolitan Atlanta Youth Opportunities Initiative

The Metropolitan Atlanta Youth Opportunities Initiative works to create better outcomes for youth transitioning out of foster care in metro Atlanta.

Neighborhood Fund

Neighborhood Fund empowers community members to positively impact neighborhoods at the local level.

Neighborhood Nexus

Neighborhood Nexus is a comprehensive information resource that empowers community leaders to enhance the quality-of-life in the Atlanta region.

A Look into Grants to Green

For the past three years, Grants to Green has helped organizations reduce their environmental impact and at the same time improve their bottom line.

To date, the initiative has awarded 73 Assessment Awards and 33 Implementation Grants, totaling moer than $1.2 million to more than 60 metro Atlanta organizations. Read about the impact Grants to Green continues to make.
