On Tuesday, April 30 The Community Foundation brought together more than 90 community leaders who currently serve as volunteers for various committees and boards to celebrate their commitment to the work we do to strengthen the metro Atlanta region.

Nonprofits are encouraged to attend a May 1 online orientation session to learn more about the Nonprofit Loan Fund, which provides bridge loans to help nonprofits meet short-term funding needs.

April 15, 2013: Scholarships for more nonprofits

More organizations are now eligible to receive nonprofit scholarships to strengthen and enhance their organizational and professional development. In addition to grantees, nonprofits that have not received funding from The Community Foundation but that meet certain criteria may now apply.

April 9, 2013: Scholarships to attend Nonprofit Summit

Nonprofit organizations in The Community Foundation’s 23-county region are invited to apply for scholarships to cover costs associated with attending the Georgia Center for Nonprofits (GCN) 2013 Annual Nonprofit Summit, held May 20-21 at the Atlanta Sheraton.

The Nonprofit Finance Fund recently released the results of its 2013 State of the Nonprofit Sector Survey, which details the substantial changes that many organizations are making after years of economic stress.

Donors are invited to participate in a bus tour to explore the intown communities of Mechanicsville and Peoplestown. This tour will highlight strong nonprofits and programs that are helping revitalize and strengthen these communities.

February 4, 2013: Support Georgia tornado relief efforts

Tornadoes struck North Georgia counties Bartow and Gordon last Wednesday, January, 31. Current relief efforts from local organizations include overnight shelter stays for displaced families, food distribution and distribution of clean-up, comfort and bulk items to help communities in need.

The Morgan and Newton Local Funds are now accepting nominations for their annual volunteer awards. Local nonprofits, individuals and other groups are asked to nominate individuals who have made a measurable difference in Morgan County and Newton County.

More than 300 local philanthropists and community leaders gathered on Wednesday, November 14 to attend The Community Foundation's Annual Meeting featuring the Managing for Excellence Awards.

November 7, 2012: Foundation Announces $2.7 Million Invested in Nonprofits

The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta is announcing $2.7 million in grants to strengthen nonprofits in the 23-county region. A group of diverse organizations applied for funding in 2012 through a variety of grant programs, most of which focus on general operating support.

November 7, 2012: Love Your Block 2013

The Community Foundation is currently partnering with the City of Atlanta and Hands On Atlanta to award mini grants up to $1,000 through the "Love Your Block" initiative. The deadline to apply is January 8.

November 1, 2012: Hurricane Sandy Relief

At The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, our hearts and thoughts go out to those affected by Hurricane Sandy. Donors can contact their philanthropic advisor should they wish to support relief efforts in these communities.

On August 23, The Community Foundation held its annual Grants to Green Champion Convening, which provides Grants to Green grantees the opportunity to network with one another and gain valuable knowledge about green practices and sustainability.

There will be an orientation session on Wednesday, August 8 for nonprofits interested applying for loans through the Nonprofit Loan Fund. The Loan Fund helps nonprofit organizations in our 23-county service area meet short-term funding needs by providing bridge loans.

July 25, 2012: Fashion Cares 2012

Fashion Cares 2012 will be held Monday, August 27 at 7 pm at American Cancer Society Center, 250 Williams Street, Atlanta. The signature event will once again benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Greater Atlanta Affiliate and The Community Foundation’s Atlanta AIDS Fund.

July 20, 2012: 2012 Neighborhood Summit

The fourth annual Neighborhood Summit will be Saturday, September 22. Hosted by the Neighborhood Fund, the event will highlight several of the most effective programs changing the landscape of community action in our region.

July 12, 2012: Planet Philanthropy 2012

Calling all young phillanthropists - join us for Planet Philanthropy 2012 on Saturday, August 18 as we board the Chota Princess II for a day of learning about water in Georgia and the work done by two local nonprofits.

The Fayette Fund has awarded more than $29,000 in grants to seven local nonprofits making a measurable difference in the Fayette County community.

July 2, 2012: An Extra Wish July 9 Deadline

Nonprofits now have until Monday, July 9 to apply for the Fall 2012 grant cycle of An Extra Wish. An Extra Wish matches the "wishes" of nonprofits with donors interested in making a tangible difference.

The Clayton Fund was the featured program at the Clayton County Rotary Club Luncheon yesterday where grants were awarded to five local nonprofits and outgoing Advisory Committee Chair Cathy Ratti was honored.

Extra Wish, Spring 2012, features the "wishes" of 26 nonprofit organizations. An Extra Wish matches the wishes of nonprofits with donors interested in making a contribution.

In 2012, the Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund will have one deadline for its general operating support grant program. The application form and guidelines are now available.

The Atlanta Contemporary Art Center (ACAC) is pleased to announce that Lisa Cremin is the recipient of the third annual Nexus Award. Cremin is the founding director of The Community Foundation's Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund.
