Seven of Fayette County’s top nonprofit organizations have been awarded general operating support grants from the Fayette Fund, a local fund of The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta.
The Fayette Fund brings together donors, community leaders and nonprofits to respond to the critical needs of the community. This year, the Fayette Fund awarded a total of $32,500 to support local nonprofits who continue to face challenges as government funding is being cut and demand for services increases.
Grant recipients are: Association for Village PRIDE, ExceptionalOPS, Fayette Alliance Coordinating Teamwork, Outreach and Resources (FACTOR), Fayette CARE Clinic, Fayette Senior Services, Real Life Center and Square Foot Ministry.
Last week, more than 30 community and nonprofit leaders gathered to recognize these grantees at a reception held at Fayette Senior Services in Fayetteville. Alicia Philipp, president of The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, spoke about local philanthropy and recognized the nonprofits, donors and community leaders working to make a difference in the area. Also addressing attendees was Steve Forsyth, director of Corporate Communications for Global Aviation Holdings and Chair of the Fayette Fund Advisory Board.
"We are proud to provide grants to these seven very deserving organizations in our community," said Forsyth. "These organizations fill critical roles, and each one deserves even greater support than we were able to provide this year. We hope to enlist more companies who want to be part of this effort and increase the positive impact we can make on the people of Fayette County."
Global Aviation Holdings and its subsidiary, World Airways, contribute annually to the Fayette Fund through the Friday Blue Jean Fund, a program where employees donate money to wear jeans to work. To these funds, The Community Foundation provides a $10,000 annual match. In the coming year, the Fayette Fund is focused on increasing corporate philanthropy in Fayette County to create more unique opportunities like the Blue Jean Fund to provide community members a way to support organizations in the area.
