The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta recently commissioned an in-depth study to track the investment and engagement of residents in the 23-county, metro Atlanta region in four key areas: Community Involvement, Philanthropic Giving, Volunteerism, and Public Policy Involvement. The purpose of this study was to help create baselines to assess The Community Foundation’s impact in metro Atlanta communities and to set community benchmarks for how involved metro Atlantans are in these four key topic areas. The study examines metro Atlantans’ attitudes, motivations and actions around these four topics.

To perform the study, The Schapiro Group conducted a telephone survey of 2,700 metro Atlanta residents. Speaking with such a large number of respondents, The Community Foundation is able to look at the data by county, region, gender, race and other demographic breakdowns. Results of the study are informative and have several implications for the metro area and its residents. Click here to download survey.
The Community Foundation aims to conduct this study every three years to see if there is improvement in the number of metro Atlantans actively engaged in the four key areas. The Foundation and The Schapiro Group are pleased to make the results of this study available to the public.
