Common Good Funds

Guided by our Philanthropic Framework, The Community Foundation in 2010 will remain focused on providing General Operating Support to eligible nonprofits. General operating support provides unrestricted funding to help support and maintain an organization as it pursues its mission.

The Common Good Funds program will offer two funding opportunities in 2010 for grants for General Operating Support. Nonprofits have until February 10 to complete a Letter of Intent to Apply for Grant Funding. Click here to download 2010 grant documents and learn more.

An Extra Wish

The deadline to be included in the Spring book is February 1. Click here to learn more and to download guidelines and application materials.Nonprofits are invited to apply for the Spring grant cycle of An Extra Wish. An Extra Wish covers the cost of essential items that contribute in a clear way to the success of an organization and the people served. Such "wishes" in the past have included MARTA or gas cards, running shoes for girls, a new phone sytem and playground equipment.

Highlights

Our Philanthropic Framework

During 2008 The Community Foundation dedicated time to learn new ways we can strengthen the Atlanta region through philanthropy. We studied practices in the field, attended conferences, read research from experts and peers, and listened to our donors, nonprofits and community leaders. From this we have created Our Philanthropic Framework.

This is not a reinvention of The Community Foundation - it is simply our intent to clearly define how we do our work and how we'll know if we're making a difference.
