Healthy Belvedere has awarded $15,000 in grants to 10 community groups to support activities that encourage Healthy Eating and Active Living (HEAL) in the Belvedere community.

Grantees are as follows:

  • G+G Organics
  • Kirby Childcare
  • Healthy Food Eater
  • Solomon's Porch Ministry
  • Saint Philip A.M.E. Church Health Ministry
  • White Oak Hills Neighborhood Association
  • Hills of Help Outreach Ministries, Inc.
  • Oakhurst Medical Centers, Inc
  • Christ the Lord Church
  • NWOLM

During this second year of the Healthy Belvedere initiative, community residents and stakeholders known as “co-investors” were selected to guide the entire grants process. These co-investors have contributed their time, passion and knowledge of the community by serving as reviewers of the grant applications and ultimately as coaches to the 10 new grantees.

Funded activities will take place now through September. A calendar of activities will soon be available on the Healthy Belvedere website at www.healthybelvedere.org. The Belvedere community is encouraged to visit the site and learn more about how to get involved.

Our Philanthropic Framework

During 2008 The Community Foundation dedicated time to learn new ways we can strengthen the Atlanta region through philanthropy. We studied practices in the field, attended conferences, read research from experts and peers, and listened to our donors, nonprofits and community leaders. From this we have created Our Philanthropic Framework.

This is not a reinvention of The Community Foundation - it is simply our intent to clearly define how we do our work and how we'll know if we're making a difference.
