New Local Leadership: March 5, 2010

The Community Foundation is pleased to announce new leadership for two of its local funds – the Newton Fund and the Fayette Fund. Local funds of The Community Foundation respond to the charitable needs of local communities. Each local fund is run by an advisory board that lives and works in that area and is committed to developing local philanthropy and responding to the needs of the community.   

Welcome Barbara Morgan
New leadership has emerged for the advisory board of the Newton Fund. Barbara Morgan of Covington took the helm as board chair in January. For Morgan, Newton County’s quality of life is largely determined by its civic engagement. “I am continually overwhelmed by the volunteerism in this community– people who could go on their merry way but instead stop to lift other people up,” she says. Welcome Steve Forsyth
The Fayette Fund advisory board has elected Steve Forsyth of Peachtree City as its new board chair. In 2010, according to Forsyth, the advisory board will “focus on community engagement, bringing together the various corporate, government and nonprofit organizations to provide innovative leadership on community issues.” Read more.

Our 2010 Annual Report

Recently released, our 2010 Annual Report focuses on the impact that we, along with our donors, nonprofits and community partners, have made in our 23-county region.

Last year’s financial contributions were a record $139 million and 2010 was our third highest year in grants made totaling $99 million. This year’s annual report shares the difference these investments have made…the needs met…and the lives changed.
