If you haven't already wrapped up your charitable giving for 2009, we at The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta have put together some year-end tips for you.

Got a Fund?
Consider making a year-end gift to grow your fund for grantmaking. We accept a wide variety of assets as gifts, including direct and wire transferred cash, publicly traded stock, mutual funds, bonds and other debt obligations, real estate, interest in privately held companies, restricted stock or intangible/intellectual property. To get going, log into DonorCentral or contact your philanthropic advisor at 404-688-5525.

Give Where You Live

As a current donor, you can support the metro Atlanta region by giving to local nonprofit organizations making a difference in our community. These organizations strengthen families, engage our youth, nurture the creative spirit and build healthy communities. For support in identifying strong organizations doing great work in our community, please contact us. Let our extensive experience in grantmaking and community leadership enhance your giving. View our Checklist for Giving, which outlines sample characteristics of well managed, effective organizations. Consider this resource and other Giving Resources developed to guide you in your philanthropy.

Start a Fund

At The Community Foundation, we offer you the ability to establish a variety of different funds to meet your charitable goals. Many donors choose to set up a Donor-Advised Fund, however there are various Types of Funds to meet your specific needs. Setting up a fund at The Community Foundation provides you a simple way to support the organizations and causes you are most passionate about. To discuss your philanthropic needs and goals, please contact Rob Smulian, vice president of Philanthropic Services, at 404-588-3191.

Thank you for all that you do to support the greater Atlanta community and beyond. We look forward to working with you at the end of 2009, as well as in 2010, to fulfill your philanthropic passion.

Our Philanthropic Framework

During 2008 The Community Foundation dedicated time to learn new ways we can strengthen the Atlanta region through philanthropy. We studied practices in the field, attended conferences, read research from experts and peers, and listened to our donors, nonprofits and community leaders. From this we have created Our Philanthropic Framework.

This is not a reinvention of The Community Foundation - it is simply our intent to clearly define how we do our work and how we'll know if we're making a difference.
