Our Process
Over a nine-month period in 2008 we dedicated staff resources to learn how we can be more effective and impactful. We did this by:
- Postponing competitive grantmaking to ensure staff had adequate time for research, learning and discussion.
- Surveying donors, nonprofits and next generation leaders to learn more about how we connect best with them.
- Holding 20 Community Conversations with small focus groups gaining honest feedback about our work.
- Participating in training and conferences focused on evaluation methods, regional service, Atlanta’s deep history, technology solutions, project management and more.
- Researching promising practices by leaders in our field.
- Ensuring diverse experiences and outlooks through cross-departmental teams and full staff retreats.
