Supporting Organizations

The Community Foundation legally appoints a majority of the supporting organization’s board of directors.  As such, it may be said that a supporting organization operates under The Community Foundation’s “umbrella.”

Through a supporting organization, donors receive the benefits and services of the Foundation while maintaining a separate board of directors that manages the supporting organization’s grantmaking, investments and other functions. A supporting organization (new or existing) may affiliate with The Community Foundation if it has at least $2 million in assets or pays a minimum annual fee of $10,000. Supporting organization policies, procedures, services and fees can be provided upon request.
