Resources

In order to give back to the professional advisor community that has been so instrumental to The Community Foundation’s success, we provide a variety of resources and educational opportunities for advisors.

The Planned Giving Design Center
The Planned Giving Design Center is a web-based charitable and estate planning research database and virtual planning community. The Community Foundation provides access to the wealth of information in the PGDC at no cost to Atlanta area advisors.

One resource offered through PGDC are weekly e-newsletters on breaking news from the IRS, Congress and courts that may affect charitable gift planning, as well as timely articles and case studies. In addition, once a month The Community Foundation shares news related to our work with donors and in the community. Sign up now for a free account to begin receiving the PGDC newsletters.

Philanthropic Planning Guide
A professional advisor's guide to The Community Foundation, this document is designed to help advisors better understand the Foundation to determine if our services might be a good fit for a client. In addition, it provides advisors with questions and comparative information to determine if other giving options might be appropriate. Click here to access.

The Philanthropic Advisor Leadership Institute
The Philanthropic Advisor Leadership Institute is a bi-annual, multi-session leadership development program sponsored by The Community Foundation and The Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta for a select group of Atlanta area professional advisors. The purpose of the Institute is to deepen participants’ understanding of how values motivate philanthropic clients, hone existing estate and income tax planning skills as they relate to charitable planning, and forge strong and lasting professional ties between the various participants. Click here to learn more.

The Balser Symposium
The Balser Symposium is an annual continuing education opportunity sponsored by The Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta, United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta and The Community Foundation. The symposium focuses on charitable and estate planning issues, with prominent local and national speakers.

Professional Firm Presentations
Each year, The Community Foundation conducts many “lunch and learn” presentations for local professional firms on a variety of charitable planning topics. If you would like to have us conduct a presentation for your firm, please email Christy Eckoff, director of gift planning, at 404-588-3183.

Public Speaking
The Community Foundation’s professional staff is available to speak to professional and civic groups on topics related to philanthropy, charitable planning and community development. In the past year, we have presented to the Athens Estate Planning Institute, The Estate Planning and Probate Section of the Atlanta Bar Association, the North Georgia Estate Planning Council, the DeKalb Estate Planning Council and metro Atlanta Rotary and Kiwanis clubs among others. If you are in need of a program speaker, please contact Christy Eckoff.

Highlights

Starting the Philanthropic Conversation

PlanningGuideImage2.JPG

Are you interested in starting the philanthropic conversation with your clients? The following questions may help you begin the discussion.

Three threshold questions:

  • Are there charitable organizations that you support on an annual basis?
  • Would you like to include any of these organizations in your financial or estate plan?
  • If there were a way to shift dollars from taxes to charity, would you be interested in exploring the options?
