Think Inside the (Tool) Box
The Community Foundation’s commitment to strengthening and supporting our region’s nonprofits includes more than giving financial grants. The Nonprofit Toolbox provides nonprofit organizations with tools to strengthen their management, governance and operations.
Most Nonprofit Toolbox awards are not cash awards; rather, they’re custom-designed packages of management consulting to help solve a key organizational challenge or problem.
Organizations selected to receive a Nonprofit Toolbox grant work with a specialist to construct a package of customized assistance. The specialist oversees the award and delivery of professional services to ensure the organization’s outcome is achieved within the designated time frame.
The Foundation also offers awards to build the technological capacity of nonprofits. These grants are in the form of both technology consulting services and cash grants to implement technology improvements and upgrades.
Although requests for all types of awards will be accepted, Nonprofit Toolbox prioritizes requests in the following areas:
- Board development
- Financial management
- Human resources
- Marketing planning
- Resource development
- Strategic planning
- Succession planning
2017 Grant Cycle Timeline
- Noon, Friday, February 3: Winter deadline (all types of grants)
- Noon, Friday, May 5: Technology Assessment only
- Noon, Friday, October 6: Fall deadline (all types of grants)
